English versionZum neunten Mal fand heuer das Waves Vienna statt, ein Showcase Festival wie es vielfältiger und bunter nicht sein könnte. Am Tag gab es interessante Workshops und Conferences und an den Abenden spielten dann auf 10 Bühnen, in und rund ums WUK, 100 Bands aus 22 Ländern. Wir waren heuer auch das erste Mal zu zweit mit dabei und können euch deshalb von der Vielfalt des 3-tägigen Festivals noch mehr zeigen.Nächstes Jahr findet übrigens das 10-jährige Jubiläum statt, deswegen unser Tipp: Kauft euch früh genug eure Tickets!
The Waves Vienna, a 3-day showcase festival which couldn't be more diverse and varied, took place for the ninth time this year. During the day there were lots of interesting workshops and conferences to participate, and in the evenings there played 100 bands from 22 different countries on 10 stages in and around WUK.
On a side note, next year Waves Vienna will celebrate its 10-year anniversary, so our little tipp: Go and get your tickets early enough!

Day 1
Alex: Der erste Tag ging wie immer gemütlich los. Erkunden des Geländes und dann die Lichtverhältnisse auf den verschiedenen Bühnen austesten, und gleichzeitig war für mich das Bild des Festivals von den Petrol Girls dabei.
Hannah: Zum ersten Mal als offizielle Festivalfotografin am Start, war der erste Tag doch ein wenig aufregend für mich. Nachdem mich die Licht- und Platzverhältnisse bei den kleineren Bühnen tatsächlich herausgefordert haben, konnte auch ich am Ende des Abends meine Highlight-Bilder des Festivals von Shortparis schießen.

Alex: The first day started off, as always, quite relaxed. Firstly checking out the area, then testing out the light conditions on the various stages, but at the same time I took my personal picture of the festival of Petrol Girls.
Hannah: For the fist time I getting the chance to officially be a part of the photography team at a festival, day one was really exciting for me. After the light- and room conditions at the smaller stages were a little challenging for me, I also took my personal highlight pictures at the end of the night of Shortparis' performance.

Day 2
Alex: Am zweiten Tag war mein Highlight Ikan Hyu. Das Schweizer Pop-Duo spielte ein "spaciges" Set, gehüllt in eine tolle Lichtshow und das auch noch mit unzähligen Instrumenten.
Hannah: Eines meiner Highlights von Tag 2 war das Pärchen von Anger, deren Verbindung man in jeder Note ihrer Musik fühlen konnte. Später rockten Go Go Gorilla die Bühne im Foyer des WUKS, eine Show, the nicht nur unglaublich unterhaltsam anzuhören und -schauen war, sondern auch richtig Spaß machte zu fotografieren.

Hannah: The very photogenic couple from Anger were one of my highlights of day 2, since you could feel their connection in every sound of their music. Later in the evening, Go Go Gorilla rocked the stage at the Foyer of the WUK, a show that wasn't only fun to watch and listen to, but also to take pictures of.

Day 3
Alex: Der finale Tag bot dann zwei tolle Acts genau für meinen Geschmack. Mit Linn Koch-Emmery und Ivan & The Parazol standen zwei sehr rockige Bands auf der Bühne. Auch der jazzige Pop von Ina West hat es mir sehr angetan.
Hannah: Der letzte Tag begann mit einer, leider noch nicht so gut besuchten, aber für mich sehr tollen Show von Strandhase, und endete mit der elektronisch-fetzigen Live Show und der unglaublich charismatischen Frontfrau von Gurt.

Alex: The final day offered two great acts, just the way I like them. With Linn Koch-Emmery and Ivan & The Parazol two very rocky bands entered the stages. Also the jazzy pop of Ina West was very impressive for me.
Hannah: The last day started with a, unfortunately not too well attended, but for me fantastic show of Strandhase, and endet with the electronically-wild live show and a unbelievably charismatic front woman of the band Gurt.

Unser Fazit:
Das Waves ist ein Festival, welches man mit anderen Musikfestivals nicht vergleichen kann, aber für uns zu einem der angenehmsten und interessantesten gehört. Von Singer-Songwriter über Pop/Indie/Rock bis Hardcore Punk ist für jeden etwas dabei.
Zudem war es sehr schön mit einem tollen Team zusammen arbeiten zu dürfen, bei dem ich mich hier auch noch einmal bedanken möchte.
Our conclusion:
The Waves is a festival, which is not comparable to any other music festival, and for us it is one of the most pleasant and interesting ones. Starting with Singer-Songwriter, followed by Pop/Indie/Rock and even Hardcore Punk - there is something there for everyone. Also, it was great to work with such a great Team, which I want to thank again in this way.
