The Jupiter Effect and Tokan at Kramladen

When the West meets the East, it can sometimes get stormy. As well as when three guys from Vorarlberg and one Viennese get together and do what they do best and love, which in their case is music, and bring exactly that right on the stage.
Finally, the four stoner rockers of The Jupiter Effect were able to release their long awaited debut album "I/O" at Kramladen in Vienna. The fundament of their "Progressive Stoner Rock" is built of Martin on the guitar, Fabian on the drums and Markus on the bass, who build the perfect basis for singer Robert to slip in the role as a frontman. Particularly in the song "Puppets" you can hear the love to details and the playful side of the band, because of all the rhythmic and harmonic elements. On the one hand time and tempo changes, triplets and lots of rhythmic shifts and on the other hand calm, harmonic passages and in contrast dissonant riffs full of breaks, are parts of their powerful music. Additionally, they put an energy loaded show on stage with a stoner rock worthy final, including an excessive outro with all the typical psychedelic elements.

As support band, Tokan opened the evening. Their music revolves around extended instrumental passages, to which frontman Sascha adds his very own touch with lyric-parts in German and Englisch. With Mario on the guitar and his brute kicking guitar sound, supported by Daniel on the drums and their highly dynamic and aggressive sound, they were a perfect opener for a well attended Kramladen and heated it all up for the main act.





Tokan and The Jupiter Effect are definitely two of my insider tips when it comes to local rock bands. If you get the chance to see them live, you should absolutely go for it!
